Dave this is really meant for you, based on your earlier post regarding the way the Bushchimp pronounces NUCLEAR. I now refer you (all) to http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary You will note that Merriam-Webster online now pronouces words for you. (It's fun too, if you are as easily amused as I am. I had it pronoucning words like hypostasis, lysergic acid diethylamide, and corduroy. NOW WHO'S THE CHIMP?)
Anyway, go to NUCLEAR, and note with regret and sadness in your heart that the third accepted pronunciation is NUC-YU-LER.
I guess if so many people get it wrong for so long, we just give up and accpet and ratify it.
