The FCC recently fined a community radio station in Portland $7000 for playing a song that "contains unmistakable patently offensive sexual references." Note that it's only a "reference". None of George Carlin's 7 naughty words are used in the song. The FCC, now being head by Colin Powell's son, is now cracking down on perceived "indecency", without any clear guidelines as to what exactly is indecent to the stations. Last month they busted a Colorado station for $7000 playing the -clean- version of an Eminem song.

What's ironic to me about the Portland case, is that the lyrics are a feminist attack on macho thugs like Eminem who degrade women in hip hop. It's actually a positive message, an anti-indecency stance, but the FCC is apparently pretty clueless and decided to prosecute anyway.
